Canadian and Korean manufacturers quality of production comparison

Canadian people have good industry of manufacturing product as Korean people too. Both countries are well-developed industries and product quality is warranted in most cases. In comparison between the two countries case by case will be presented in this writing to know slightly different cultures both countries have but each country’s strengths and weaknesses.

Consumer power difference:

Korean people have traditionally persecutive history and companies are stronger and consumers are weaker, so many people have counted consumers on more than companies. The service quality was very sensitive and when such thing as “educating consumers” happened, then national attention is put to it and many companies should do their best to make product quality better. Canada and Korean people are basically good nature so both companies have interest to improve qualities, but consumer power is more warranted in Korea, so there is some difference in making product line’s quality.

In Canada, low-priced products have explicit product quality downgrade, printers for example, cheap printers have small ink-cartridges and ink is well smudged by water, it is trendy that low-priced products have something caveats that cause consumers experience discomfort on it. In Korea, if it is so, it is very much popularly known by people and companies are pushed more to improve it. In its effects, Korean products are known as good quality.

The food delivery cultures too, recent trend in Canada such as UberEats, Korean people have served earlier than that and really cheap price for delivery fee. However, Canadian UberEats have more wages, while Korean delivery people have very low wages and more workload, it is pros/cons each countries.

Consumer power sometimes make inverse effect on power game between consumers and companies so recently there was attention on changing common recognition to its power games, but it is still true that Korean consumers have more power than Canadian.

The peculiarity that looks sensitive or good condition foreign people see is that when making television drama or movies, something showing the product name on mise-en-scene, the label on the product should be hidden or removed because many consumers think it is unfair to advertisement effect. This is sensitivity how Korean people concern about product competition and companies’s control of product qualities.

DIY culture difference:

Canada have long history of capitalism, many house owners do their work by their hands, because technician’s visit has expensive costs. So, DIY cultures for home hardware work are well-developed than Korea, its tool is very creative and convenient usage by it. It makes more effort by Dads, it is something fun and enjoyable, and its culture is strength of Canadian people. Korea also have technical development similarly to it, but Canada’s knowhow is stronger than Korea I think.

Companies’s role is more emphasized in moral practice:

In Canada, human rights are equally treated, so many companies regarded their information such as telephone numbers are hardly foundable than Korean companies. Until some years, Canadian companies omitted contact information on their plastic bag while Korean companies do it by duty, I feel this system makes sometimes “educating consumers” cultures which is inversed in Korea “educating companies” and it is interesting topic to see society and community difference which influences industry cultures too.

Both countries also have obscure cultures power games in economical microscope, something is emphasized, then some consecutive effect is appeared inverse manner and vice versa.

In Korea, there has been many years of historical facts that weak people are what we have to protect, it became specificity compared to Canada, as many Chinese people concerned when entertainer from Hongkong was attacked in SNS, Korean sensitivity is sometimes harsh to some innocent people but when its target is company, it makes qualities improved, but capitalistic nature, workers are not warranted basic wages or more workload, so this is also interesting and careful topic to see their cultures.

I think this is only phenomenal introduction so more research is needed, I would like to introduce by comparing Korea to Canada. It would be good topic to ponder up, and I hope more knowing to it is what we have foundation to talk on ^^
