눈치 is colloquial term meaning that someone’s ability to know somethings perceived. It is often translated into English language “wit” or “comprehension”, the former is close to 눈치’s colloquial usage, the latter is for its connotative meaning of “situational understanding quickly.” 눈치 in Korean has meaning of comprehension, but more close to colloquial sense, so is close to the usage of “wit”.
When communication is ongoing, some people have extraordinary sense of easy to follow or easy talk, it is said to be “눈치가 좋은 사람” meaning that the people having a quick and easy understanding of the talk sensation, it is good sense of the meaning.
The term 눈치 also is used to the bad sense of the meaning, especially when the person is paying extra attention to harsh atmosphere of the communication. For example, “그는 상사의 눈치를 본다” (He is worrying about boss’s smothering to the work)
The term “comprehension” is sometimes used for purely, practicing the textbook, meaning that each chapter’s exercise problem sets solving ability and some other times the teacher’s evil intention of arranging practice questions by some evil motive of teaching technique and both good and bad usage, 눈치 is same but in Korean sense, the term 눈치 is tended to be more good meaning to the person who had to have attributed by the meaning of the term.
Examples:
“내 친구는 눈치가 빨라서 좋아” = “I really like my friend quickly got it”
“눈치밥을 많이 먹는 그 사람이 안쓰럽다” = “I have empathy to the man who had to pay more attention in life”
“눈치 그만보고 자신감을 가져” = “Please don’t be too worried about it and be confident about it”
