What is meaning of “한솥밥을 먹다”?

The rice is central food in Korea. People eat steamed rice when they have to have meals, steamed rice is symbolic to the meaning of motherhood and familial belongings.

Traditionally when baby boomer generation was children, mothers were kindly cooked steamed rice for family members, very large amount of them was cooked into one large pot.

One large pot (한솥밥) is eaten with family, so, 한솥밥을 먹다(eating together one large pot) is expression to represent feeling of belonging.

The big companies often thoughts of encouraging employee’s performance of their work, they say together “한솥밥 먹는 사이” (The intimate relationship to eat large pot together) and it makes sense.

Examples:

“우리 한솥밥을 먹는 사이아니가”

“Aren’t we relationship eating at one large pot!” = “Aren’t we very friendly relationship?”
